7 pm

Montreal, October 1970. Twelve-year-old Manon's family is on the verge of collapse; she and her little brother Mimi are about to be placed in Foster Care. Manon is incensed. Inspired by the current political crisis, she comes up with a plan and takes an old woman hostage to demand the right to choose her own future. With the help of her two cousins Martin and Denis, they leave the city with Mimi and the old woman, determined to find refuge where they can all be happy and free. Gripping, tender and moving, Cross My Heart is a vibrant story portraying the weaknesses and betrayals of adulthood as seen through the eyes of children.

Retour en bourgogne

Vend. 26 janv./ Fri. Jan. 26, 2018

After a 10 year absence, Jean returns to his hometown when his father falls ill. Reuniting with his sister Juliette and his brother Jérémie, they have to re-build their relationship and trust as a family again.

In Montreal, one evening when Christmas has fallen during Ramadan, the Muslim fast, the paths of two Algerians cross momentarily, resurrecting a past they thought was long buried. Amokrane, a taxi driver, has fled his home and the festivities on the grounds that it will be a profitable night to work. He picks up Kahina, a young, slightly disoriented professional who is attempting to contact her exhusband to collect her daughter and head for an obscure destination up north. Amokrane recognizes Kahina as his idol, a former pop star in Algeria, who he thought was dead. This sets the stage for the collision of their personal dramas and their solitudes. Through the rear view mirror, Algeria surfaces, reaching into the silence in a procession of shadows and sorrows believed to be buried under the Montreal snow.

Iqaluit

Ven. 9 mars/ Fri. March 9, 2018

Travelling to the Arctic for the first time, Carmen arrives in Iqaluit to tend to her husband, Gilles, a construction worker who has been seriously injured. Trying to get to the bottom of what happened, she strikes up a friendship with Noah, Gilles' Inuk friend, and realizes they share a similar story. Together, Carmen and Noah head out on the Frobisher Bay - she, looking for answers to her questions; he, trying to stop his son from committing what can't be undone.
